For most of us, exercising regularly is a challenging feat. It takes a lot of effort and will power to complete a routine morning workout. Being consistent with your gym sessions requires motivation. There are days when you just don’t wanna. Days when you just want to sleep in and hit that snooze button three more times before scrambling to get up late for work.
All too often the mind is willing, but the flesh is weak. We’ve all been on that road. And even though Emilia Clarke’s banging body turns you green with envy, that’s not motivation enough. So here’s how to motivate yourself to workout, so much so that you ACTUALLY want to get up and workout—because, hey, it’s not the thought that counts…
Workout Motivation Tip #1: Envision Your End Goal.
In everything that we do, success starts with a goal set in mind. The same is true with working out. You have to set your fitness goal and stick to it. Think of what you are trying to accomplish. Are you exercising for better health, to boost your self-esteem, to be able to finally wear that skimpy bikini you have stashed at the back of your closet, or all of the above?
Whether your goal is short-term or long-term, when you visualize your desired results, you start to believe in the plausibility of it happening. That helps you to focus on it and keep yourself on the right track.
Workout Motivation Tip #2: Get Cute Workout Gear
This is a great incentive for your inner shopaholic (I’m still trying to smother mine, she’s the worst). Exercising is already hard, but cute athletic gear can really inspire you to get out to the gym! Let’s face it: when you look good you feel good too.
Having comfortable, non frumpy workout clothes that flatter your body makes it easier to hit the gym without being self-conscious. You can even dress up your workout clothes for a sport luxe look that will also leave you with no excuses to hit up that impromptu yoga class later. Not to mention, you’ll get another fly Instagram OOTD post!
Workout Motivation Tip #3: Remember Why You Started.
Achieving a goal takes time. It also takes blood, sweat, and tears, and it can be a while before you see and feel results. But before you flush all of your hard work down the toilet and return to religious Netflix and Chilling, note that it’s called “working out” for a reason. You have to continuously show up and work to achieve your desired results.
So when you’re feeling impatient, just focus on that initial feeling of inspiration. You’re more likely to revitalize yourself to pursue your goals when you hold on to your initial passion. Always remember that you have already gone far to stop. You deserve your success. It’s just a few sit-ups and burpees away…
Workout Motivation Tip #4: Try a New Gym.
Hitting up the same gym you have had membership for since forever can be pretty boring and uninspiring. Explore new fitness centres or take a run somewhere new to keep it fresh. Seeing new places and new faces can psyche you up to get out there more. Maybe do some yoga in the park next to your place to soak up some morning sun (and people watch! Because being creepy is fun- obviously).
Creating a workout playlist can also help. Put together a cool playlist that matches your workout mood to take your routine to the next level and stir you to look forward to your next session! Trust me. With these tips, you’ll never want to touch that snooze button again. Except don’t hold me to that. The snooze button is awesome…
